Noelia Rico and Pedro Huidobro got the Best Student Paper Award at EUSFLAT Conference

In September 19-24, the joint EUSFLAT-IFSA Conference took place in Bratislava. As usual in EUSFLAT Conference, there is a Best Student Paper Award sponsored by Atlantis Press.

In this edition, our colleagues Noelia Rico and Pedro Huidobro got this award for their papers "The Borda Count as an initial threshold for Kemeny ranking aggregation" and "Convexity of Interval-valued Fuzzy Sets Applied to Decision-Making Problems". Congratulations!

Here you can find information about both papers:

Title: The Borda Count as an initial threshold for Kemeny ranking aggregation

Authors: Noelia Rico, Camino Rodríguez-Vela, Raúl Pérez-Fernández, Irene Díaz

Abstract: Social choice algorithm for determining the Kemeny ranking based on the properties of this method in relation to the Borda count. The introduction of the distance from the Borda count ranking to the profile as an initial threshold for pruning the search space results in a reduction of the execution time required to find the Kemeny ranking.

Title: Convexity of Interval-valued Fuzzy Sets Applied to Decision Making Problems

Authors: Pedro Huidobro, Pedro Alonso, Vladimir Janis, Susana Montes

Abstract: Fuzzy sets can help us with imprecision, however, there are situations we are not able to assign an accurate value. Interval-valued fuzzy sets are applied in decision making to deal with imprecision. The convexity of interval-valued fuzzy sets establishes some interesting results about decision local and global maximizers.
